The Namesake
In August 1940, the U.S. Army's Parachute Test Platoon was proving at Fort Benning, Georgia, that soldiers could jump from an airplane and fight. The night before his test jump, Private Aubrey Eberhardt was needled by his buddies that he'd be too scared to speak on the way down. He told them he'd yell something they could hear from the ground — and the next day, out the door, he shouted "Geronimo!"
The yell caught on, and it became the airborne tradition: one word that means committed. The word itself carries an older weight — Geronimo, Goyaałé of the Chiricahua Apache, whose endurance and nerve made his name a byword for fearlessness. This outfit borrows the yell with respect for both traditions.
Geronimo Diving is run by a retired U.S. Army officer. The habit came with him: check your equipment, check your buddy, and when it's time to go — go all the way in.
One word. It means committed.
